Las Vegas and Hoover Dam

In the vast Nevada desert the next large city we drove into was Las Vegas. We pulled into the city just after sunset, so all the city lights were glowing. We decided to stop for a very fast visit, less than 24 hours.  Chris found parking by Fremont street, 1 block away actually, and the parking fee was $10 for the entire night so we decided to boondock there for the night.  It was NOISY!

We watched the Fremont Street experience

Interesting crowd on Fremont street

We did enjoy the street magicians, musicians and dancers.

After a very noisy, restless night trying to sleep in downtown Vegas.  We got up early and rode the city bus to the main strip.

Riding a double-decker bus.

First stop is The Wynn, we admired the beautiful flowers and Christmas decorations.

Popeye the Sailor Man

Next stop, Fashion Show Mall where we saw a Ferrari...Eli wanted to take it for a ride.

Next we walked by Treasure Island, hoping to watch their pirate show, but they stopped doing it 4 years ago.

Next we walked to the Bellagio, to see their conservatory, chocolate fountain and watch the water show.

Chocolate Fountain

Water Show....the kids favorite part of Vegas.

We did a quick walk into the The Venetian Palace to see the mall with the sky ceilings and the Venetian Gondolas.

Fun in a hat shop

Wow...we left Vegas by 2 pm...exhausted and ready to get out of town!!

Our next stop was Hoover Dam...it was a very impressive site.
